Washington is a state in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States

It is north of Oregon, west of Idaho, east of the Pacific Ocean, and south of British Columbia. (British Columbia is part of Canada.) There are more than 7 million people in Washington. Most of them live in the western part of Washington, which gets a lot of rain from the Pacific Ocean. The capital of Washington is Olympia. The largest city is Seattle, which is in the western part of the state, on the coast of Puget Sound. Seattle is the largest city in the Pacific Northwest. The state is named after George Washington, who was the first President of the United States.
